Registration Deadline 13 August 2026

Ninja Track ₹3.36 LPA — Foundation section performance is the primary filter
Digital Track ₹7.0 – ₹7.3 LPA — requires strong Foundation + Advanced Aptitude section
Prime Track ₹9.0 – ₹11.5 LPA — requires top scores across Foundation, Advanced Aptitude, and at least one fully-solved Advanced Coding problem

TCS NQT August 2026 registration is genuinely live — this cycle closes on 13 August 2026 with the exam following on 26 August. But before registering anywhere, it’s worth understanding that TCS runs two very differently-branded things under the “NQT” name: its own free recruitment test for Ninja, Digital, and Prime roles, and a separate, paid general assessment product sold to 75,000+ candidates for use across 4,000+ unrelated companies.

Since 2022, TCS consolidated what used to be separate Ninja and Digital hiring processes into one single integrated test. You register once, sit one exam, and your performance across its sections determines which interview pool — Ninja, Digital, or Prime — you land in. There’s no separate application for each track upfront.

How the single test maps to three different outcomes

The test itself runs across two parts: a mandatory Foundation section (Verbal Ability, Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability) that every candidate takes, and an optional Advanced section covering tougher aptitude questions plus coding problems. Your Foundation score alone can qualify you for Ninja. Strong Foundation plus solid Advanced Aptitude performance opens the Digital interview pool. Reaching Prime requires excelling across Foundation, Advanced Aptitude, and successfully solving at least one Advanced coding problem in full. This is exactly why the LinkedIn post’s advice to “grind LeetCode Mediums” for the Advanced coding section is genuinely sound — it’s the specific lever that moves you from Ninja-level outcomes toward Digital or Prime.

The genuinely real “Two-Portal” mistake

Registering for the test itself is not the same as applying for the hiring drive. TCS’s own instructions are explicit: after registering (or logging in, if already registered) under the ‘IT’ category specifically — not ‘BPS’ — candidates must click ‘Apply For Drive’ to complete their registration. TCS’s own FAQ even tells candidates to confirm their status reads “Applied for Drive” under the Track Your Application section, precisely because skipping this step is a common, avoidable mistake that leaves an otherwise-qualifying score unconnected to any actual interview pipeline.

Eligibility, plainly stated

  • Graduates from the 2024, 2025, or 2026 passing batches
  • Minimum 60% aggregate across 10th, 12th, and degree, with no active backlogs at the time of joining
  • Age between 18 and 28 years
  • Both engineering and non-CS branches (Mechanical, Civil, ECE, EEE, etc.) are eligible specifically for the Ninja track
  • 2024-batch candidates with a genuine education/career gap under 24 months remain eligible, provided they can explain the gap during verification

What actually happens after the exam

TCS typically takes two to three weeks to announce results, communicated by email and reflected on the NextStep portal. Candidates who clear the relevant bar move to a Technical Interview — covering core subjects, programming fundamentals, and any real project or internship experience — followed by an HR round assessing behavioral fit, genuine company awareness, and willingness to relocate.

FAQs

1. Is TCS NQT registration free?
Yes — registration through the official TCS NextStep portal for the Ninja/Digital/Prime hiring drive is completely free. Anyone asking for payment to register for this specific drive is not affiliated with TCS.

2. What happens if I forget to click “Apply for Drive” after registering?
Your test registration alone does not connect you to the hiring drive. TCS’s own instructions state this step is mandatory — without it, your score may not be considered by recruiters even if you pass the exam.

3. Can 2024 batch graduates still apply?
Yes, provided the total education or career gap doesn’t exceed 24 months and a valid reason can be given during verification.

4. Is this the same as the TCS iON NQT product I’ve seen advertised elsewhere?
No. TCS iON also sells a separate, paid assessment product used by thousands of unrelated companies for general hiring. It shares similar branding but is not the same as TCS’s own free Ninja/Digital/Prime recruitment drive covered in this article.
