Supervised learning algorithms are trained on labeled datasets, meaning the input data comes with the correct output (e.g., predicting house prices based on historical data). The model learns to map inputs to outputs. Unsupervised learning algorithms are trained on unlabeled data. The system tries to learn the underlying structure or distribution in the data without explicit instructions on what the output should be (e.g., customer segmentation using clustering).
LLMs, like GPT, are built on the Transformer architecture. They generate text by predicting the next most likely token (word or subword) in a sequence, given the context of all the previous tokens. They do this using self-attention mechanisms that weigh the importance of different words in the input prompt, passing this information through layers of neural networks to output a probability distribution over the entire vocabulary for the next word.
pandas is a powerful, open-source data manipulation and analysis library built on top of NumPy. It provides highly efficient data structures, primarily the DataFrame (a 2D tabular structure) and the Series (a 1D array). It is used extensively in machine learning for data cleaning, filtering, handling missing values, grouping, and merging datasets before feeding them into a model.
Overfitting occurs when a machine learning model learns the training data too well, capturing noise and statistical fluctuations rather than the underlying pattern. As a result, it performs excellently on the training data but poorly on unseen test data. To prevent overfitting, we can use techniques like Cross-Validation, adding Regularization (L1/L2), pruning (in decision trees), implementing Dropout (in neural networks), or simply training the model with more diverse data.
Zycus is a market leader in SaaS procurement, and integrating AI into enterprise workflows is the future of the industry. I am particularly drawn to this internship because it goes beyond academic datasets, allowing me to work on real-world generative AI and NLP problems. I am eager to apply my Python and machine learning skills to build practical chatbots and automation tools, and I believe the mentorship at Zycus will provide the perfect foundation for my AI engineering career.
